This little trio of tales really runs the gamut. Crack open a cold one and enjoy the journey!

A Two Hearted Tale

Directed by Rory K McHarg & Bret Miller
Documentary Short
United States | 39 min | 2023

This is the eccentric story of an artist whose love of fishing, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and beer found its way into every store in America. A true, salt of the earth story of cult status rooted in Americana. Bell’s Two Hearted Ale is America’s No.1 IPA. The now infamous & iconic trout image is found in every beer store across the country. Created by Kalamazoo naturalist artist Ladislav Hanka along with founder Larry Bell, the legends behind this label and many others created at Bell’s started a visual revolution in the craft brewing industry, nearly 40 years ago, that changed what a beer label could be. A piece of art. This is an independent film not made in conjunction with the brewery.

Rare Kind

Directed by Earl Cole
Documentary Short
United States | 39 min | 2024

Rare Kind is an informative and emotional look into the lives of people diagnosed with a rare disease, who are often misunderstood by society due to a lack of empathy or skewed perceptions about disabilities that only affect a very small percentage of the world. This story journeys into the mental and physical battles of one particular rare, but painful, hip bone disease that affects young children and their families, in life-altering ways of a perceived childhood now lost. A different kind of walk in trauma, triumph, and trajectory, soaring into the birth of a life-changing refuge that helps them find joy within the pain. A true origin story down to the bone.
